Clive Standen reprises his role as the voice of Demetrius Titus, the main character in the Space Marine 2 video game.
Aside from a couple of great episodes, Secret Level feels like a monument to mediocrity. The writing is painfully mediocre, dragging the entire show down despite the undeniably impressive visuals, even if those also feel like reheated leftovers from a decade’s worth of superior video game footage. Honestly, what is this show trying to do or say that hasn’t been done (or done better) in video game marketing over the last 10 years?
The list of titles is staggering. Where are the big names? The lack of heavyweights says one thing: The developers either didn’t want to be a part of this mess or were waiting to see if a first season would happen.
What should have been concise, impactful, and memorable comes off as disjointed and uninspired. Variety called it “boring,” and for once, Variety wasn’t harsh enough. Secret Level proves that flashy visuals can’t hide a lack of vision, heart, or originality.
“One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
